Kith'tarka, Jewel of the Ath'Kara Forest

 --as penned by Scherza DelCapo

Kith'tarka, rebuilt? I never would have thought it would have happened before I left for Arvandor, but it has. The beautiful paradise is once more whole for the first time since before my birth, but it now resides in the land known as Toril. I was never one to look a gift horse in the mouth, however.

     Inhabitants: High Elves
     Population: 1,000
     Government: Monarchial System
Religion: Corellon Larethian, Sehanine Moonbow, Mielikki

The government of Kith'tarka is a monarchial system that was started in it's early days as a hunting village of a mere 100 elves. The first rulers of the elven settlement were high elven warrior Quintas Steeleaf and his wife, a ranger named Kari Featherlight. Seeing as how the Steeleaf name was the more preferred one to which to address the rulership, as Quintas had been a great warrior for his people, the name was adopted for the throne, and it was said that even if a maiden took the throne one day, the name would stick. Thus started the Steeleaf regime of the Kith'tarkan elves. The ruling elf for the regime was picked by naming the second born of the current rulers, whether it be a daughter or son.

Succession of Ancient (Pre Toril) Rulers in Kith'tarka

Lord and Lady Children
Quintas Steeleaf & Kari Featherlight -- 605AY-30AY Rillifane Steeleaf -- 630AY
Rillifane Steeleaf & Cecili Sunfire -- 630AY-7000AY Cerifa Sunfire, Liliana Steeleaf -- 700AY
Liliana Steeleaf & Rillanos Starfire -- 850AY-1,143AY Kariana Steeleaf

Current Rulers of Kith'tarka--Toril: Amarilla Sehanine and Karastin Steeleaf

All of the Steeleaf rulers have been good and just with their kingdom, there had never been any record of riots or unrest in the city of Kith'tarka.

The rulers of the city and any children that they had lived in the "Kith'tarka Spire", which was the ancestral home of Quintas and Kari when they settled in the Ath'Karan forest. This tree was one of the tallest and oldest in the forest, it is variable whether this tree can even be damaged by fire. It had lasted centuries upon centuries and all of the Steeleaf successors had made their homes there. This tree seemed to be more peaceful than the rest, which may be because of the ancientness of it.

The "Kith'tarka Spire" still exists, as a similar tree was found in the new Kith'tarka site in Toril.

Note from Scherza: Is this magic workings or just a duplicate of what was to come in Akura? I, for one, do not understand the workings of the multi-verses, but in this case, I believe that possibly, Akura was one of the multi-verses of Abeir-Toril. In this case, it is only just that Kith'tarka become real in the Satyrwood

The "Featherlight" and the "Leafdefender" are two very powerful magical weapons that are carried by the Lord and Lady of Kith'tarka. The "Featherlight" is a very strong, but light as a feather dagger. Looking like nothing more than a prettily jeweled weapon, this dagger has many powerful enchantments on it that give it a more accurate hit and will cause more damage. It also has some magical properties that were closely guarded by the Steeleaf regime. The "Leafdefender" is a standard +2 magical sword that has protection against fire. This protection will only protect itself and two elves within a 2 foot radius of the sword, and only if the chosen wearer is currently holding the weapon. Both weapons are made out of mithril, one of the strongest metals known to Akura. Unfortunately, both weapons are currently thought to be lost, as they disappeared after the decimation of Kith'tarka in 1,125 AY

Both weapons are supposed to be in the hands of Kariana Steeleaf, a planeswalker native of Akura and survivor of the original Kith'tarka disaster. She has decided to return these priceless artifacts to Kith'tarka-Toril if Kith'tarka-Akura does not revive.

                                           City Society

Kith'tarka is a city of rangers and priests under the worship of Mielikki. Most elves in Kith'tarka are taught at an early age to take up the practices of the ranger.
Some are taught in the ways of the cleric, and a few wizards stay in the city, to keep up city defenses, but the majority of the elves living in this city are rangers. The reason for this was simple. For many elves, there is no reason to leave Kith'tarka. The elven city is a beautiful city, containing everything that the elves would ever need. As skirmishes with outside armies are rare, only occasionally onset by followers of Malar, and the harmony of Kith'tarka does not allow any discord among the elves, those with strong magics were not needed.  Thieves are disallowed in the city, if an elf is ever caught stealing or cheating another elf, the punishment was immediate exile.

Within the city, even with the scant need for priests, there is a small temple to Mielikki. This temple is kept up by eight priests with their novices, but most priests as they reach adulthood, do not leave, rather stay and go on pilgrimages to spread the word of Mielikki.

Minstrels, or elven bards, are only needed in the city in the case of festivals. In this case, instead of having many unorganized factions of bards, there is one group, the "Silver Ravens", a mixed group of male and female musicians who are selected by the goddess Mielikki, that play at all festivals and even at the single inn in the city, the "Smiling Moon". These minstrels rarely venture out of the city, as the Kith'tarkan elven music is thought to be too beautiful for outside ears to hear.

Most elves electing to study wizardry often leave the city, as there is not much to do in the city that required magic, as each Lord or Lady of the city has their own personal wizard to keep the enchantments up that support their tree houses.

Rangers, by far the majority of the elves in Kith'tarka that are not storekeepers or housekeepers, are all trained by the elite Kith'tarkan army of ten, the "Silent Foxes". This group instructs all young elves in the basics of ranger training, such as how to interact with the forest and the animals within. The Silent Foxes have a large compound in the center of the village, not far from the Kith'tarkan Spire, so that the Lord and Lady can watch the progress of the young elves.

In general, Kith'tarka is a place of absolute harmony. The elves manage to live subtly off the land, not harming the animals or plants in the forest. All forest folk and humans are allowed unchallenged passage into the city, all other races are first stopped and asked of intentions by the elite army. Dishonesty among the Kith'tarkan is an unknown thing, as all of the elves share everything they own and are completely open with each other. A beautiful paradise, it is no wonder that those who enter find it hard to leave!

                                             Religion

Corellon Larethian and Sehanine Moonbow are worshipped freely throughout the city as the creators and patrons of the elves. Mielikki is worshipped as the patron of rangers in Kith'tarka. There are shrines to all three in the city, however Corellons' and Sehanine's are larger than the shrine to Mielikki.

                                       Kith'tarka's Downfall

No, it was not the elves themselves that caused the fall of Kith'tarka, it was the red wyrm, Crimsonarperdacles Hai Draco, who was being controlled at the time by the wizard Ta'kar Alarious Clydestro. This wizard was of the "Order of the Red Dragon", an assumed defunct organization that used red dragons to carry out their evil scheming against the fair folk of Akura. Ta'kar claimed to have had a vision about one of the young elves in Kith'tarka claiming god hood and destroyed the village in a jealous rage, hoping to kill her. He did not succeed, and is presumed dead by the very wyrm that he manipulated to do his work for him.

                                      Kith'tarka's Ressurection

Currently, there are plans to ressurect the grand elven city in Akura. After the disappearance of Kariana, Queen of Nevu'Alon, her mother, Liliana, had expressed an interest in re-building the once proud city. As in the current conditions, this would prove greatly impossible, but possibly after the kingdom settles down a bit, the elves can once again reside in the Ath'Kara forest.  Liliana and Rillanos have kept up their family line and are now residing in Nevu'Alon.

However, the grand city exists in Abeir-Toril, in the Chondalwood (Satyrwood), where it has retained it's splendor and appeal.
